We think that being able to recall your times tables is an important part of the maths curriculum. Once these facts are committed to long-term memory, this knowledge reduces the cognitive load therefore enabling mental agility and problem-solving. 

In addition to explicit teaching of times tables, children are given weekly multiplication checks. Copies of these checks can be found below. Once a child is confident completing a check they will move onto the next one. 

In Year 4, children complete the multiplication check; this is an online check that is completed online. Throughout Year 4, children are given regular opportunities to complete a mock check using similar software. See links also below.
