History Progression Map

We do not follow a published scheme for History. Instead, we have carefully designed our own curriculum, guided by the National Curriculum requirements, to ensure pupils study the key eras, civilisations and events that shape an understanding of Britain and the wider world.

History units alternate half-termly with Geography, giving children a clear and balanced journey through KS2. Each unit builds knowledge of people, places and events, while also developing the disciplinary skills of a historian -  enquiry, chronology, interpretation, use of sources and understanding of significance. These skills progress year on year, enabling children to think critically about the past and make meaningful connections across time.

On the subject page you will find a detailed breakdown of our history curriculum, including unit titles, lesson focuses, key concepts and vocabulary. The progression document below provides the overview of historical disciplinary skills.
