Geography Progression Map
Our Geography curriculum has been created by us, drawing directly on the National Curriculum to ensure broad and balanced coverage of the core areas. Children study Geography in alternating half-terms with History, giving them the opportunity to explore the physical and human features of the world alongside their historical learning.
Our approach is designed not only to build knowledge of places, environments and processes, but also to develop the disciplinary skills of being a geographer - enquiry, mapwork, fieldwork, data collection, interpretation and critical thinking about the world around us. These skills are carefully sequenced to progress year on year, enabling children to deepen their understanding and apply what they learn in different contexts.
On the subject page you will find a detailed breakdown of our geography units, including lesson titles, key concepts and vocabulary. The progression document below provides an overview of how geographical skills develop across the school.
