DT Progression Map
We use the Kapow Primary Design and Technology scheme as the foundation of our teaching. Alongside this, we have adapted the curriculum with bespoke units that link to year group topics and core texts, giving our DT lessons both clear skill progression and real-world relevance.
Our curriculum ensures that children work across the key strands of DT: mechanical systems, structures, textiles, cooking and nutrition. Through these areas, pupils develop problem-solving skills, creativity and practical knowledge, while learning how to design, make and evaluate with increasing independence and accuracy.
The subject information page provides more detail about how we shape DT at Fleetville, while the Kapow progression document below shows how knowledge and skills build over time.
