Supporting Wellbeing at Fleetville

The physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of every member of our school community is at the heart of everything we do at Fleetville Junior School. To us, wellbeing means both feeling good and functioning well. We believe that building emotional strength and resilience is a shared responsibility, and every adult and child in our community has a vital part to play in nurturing a supportive, inclusive environment.

Our Approach to Nurturing Wellbeing

We aim to equip our pupils with the lifelong skills needed to navigate everyday feelings as well as life’s challenges. Through our PSHE curriculum - which incorporates a mindfulness-based approach - children learn to understand their emotions, recognise their physical and behavioural responses, and build the confidence to speak openly about mental health. We place great value on pupil voice, encouraging children to share their thoughts and worries through one-to-one staff check-ins, peer support, and active pupil groups like our Pupil Parliament. Above all, we celebrate individual differences, ensuring every child feels valued, heard and important.

Working in Partnership with Families

Early identification and gentle intervention are key to supporting children through worrying or difficult times. We actively encourage parents and carers to reach out to us as soon as a concern arises, whether big or small. By working closely together, we can ensure consistent support for your child both at home and at school.

When additional or targeted support is needed, we collaborate with trusted specialist professionals - such as the School Nursing Team, Mental Health Support Teams (MHST), and specialised agencies like NESSIE —to provide tailored guidance for our pupils and their families.

Below you will find a curated selection of external resources, websites, and helplines offering further guidance on mental health, anxiety, and family wellbeing.
