Sport

At Fleetville Junior, sport is a central part of school life and a fundamental element of our learning and personal development strategy. We believe that physical activity builds character, resilience, health, and a lifelong joy of movement, aligning directly with our 'Whole Child' ethos.

🏆 School Games Platinum Mark Award

We are exceptionally proud to have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for our commitment and engagement in school sport for 2025–26.

What does the Platinum Mark mean?

Facilitated by the government-backed Youth Sport Trust and Sport England, the School Games Mark assesses a school’s physical education, activity, and competitive sport provision against rigorous national benchmarks. The Platinum Mark is the highest possible national accreditation - awarded only to schools that have maintained Gold Mark status consistently over multiple years. It recognises our sustained dedication to high-quality PE, inclusive participation, youth leadership, and providing every child with positive sporting experiences.

Our Sporting Ethos: Performance & Participation

We take pride in our rich sporting tradition, structuring our opportunities around two main pillars:

  • Competitive Sport: Representing Fleetville in local leagues, cups and tournaments across sports such as Netball, Football, Cross-Country, and Athletics.

  • Festival and Development Events: Engaging in non-competitive participation festivals and skills events designed to give our pupils — regardless of experience — the opportunity to try new sports, build confidence, and develop teamwork.

Weekly PE Timetable

Physical education is embedded into our core curriculum:

  • Every class receives two dedicated PE lessons each week, covering a broad curriculum of gymnastics, dance, games, athletics and outdoor activities.

  • Lessons focus on fundamental movement skills, tactical understanding, communication and teamwork, and physical literacy.

Extra-Curricular Sport & Clubs

Beyond the classroom, we offer a packed menu of extra-curricular opportunities before school, at lunchtime and after school.
