Personal Growth at FJS
Our Vision for Personal Growth
Personal growth is one of the four pillars of our curriculum at Fleetville Junior School. We believe in giving every child meaningful opportunities to broaden their horizons, develop confidence, build character and apply their learning in real-life contexts. Through educational visits, creative experiences, leadership opportunities, outdoor learning, sport and community engagement, our pupils are encouraged to become curious, responsible and resilient young people who are well prepared for the next stage of their education. While individual activities evolve from year to year, every pupil benefits from a carefully planned programme of experiences that complements the curriculum and creates lasting memories.
Educational Visits and Experiences
Educational visits, workshops and visiting experts enrich learning across every year group and help pupils make meaningful connections between classroom learning and the wider world. Experiences are carefully matched to the curriculum so that learning is memorable, purposeful and engaging. Here is a taste of some of what we offer:

Creative Experiences
Creativity is celebrated through music, drama, art, literature and performance. Pupils regularly participate in productions, and experience creative workshops, an annual Art Week, visiting authors and opportunities to showcase their talents. Whether performing on stage, creating artwork or meeting inspirational visitors, every child is encouraged to express themselves creatively and celebrate their achievements with others.

Leadership and Responsibility
Pupils are encouraged to make a positive contribution to school life through meaningful leadership roles including Pupil Parliament, House Captains, Reading Ambassadors, Year 3 Buddies and a wide range of On-Trust responsibilities. These opportunities help children develop confidence, communication, responsibility and the ability to lead by example.

Outdoor Learning and Sport
Outdoor experiences help pupils develop resilience, teamwork skills and well-being while fostering an appreciation of the natural environment. Our Outdoor Learning Curriculum, residential visits, school animals, gardening club, fieldwork and orienteering activities complement a broad sporting programme that provides opportunities for all pupils to participate and succeed.

SportCommunity and Citizenship
Pupils learn the importance of contributing to their community through assemblies, charitable initiatives, careers learning, community projects and visits from professionals and organisations. Working together to support our community and to develop respect and empathy for others is an important part of life at Fleetville Junior School.
