Safeguarding
Fleetville Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment.
In order to effectively safeguard our pupils in all contexts, we are committed to the continued professional development of our staff team. All staff receive statutory training and updates linked to Keeping Children Safe in Education, First Aid (including Paediatric) and Health and Safety. We have a dedicated member of staff who, with the correct paperwork and parental permissions, is able to administer medication on site.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSLs) at Fleetville Junior School is Ms Clare Whitehouse. The Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Mr Josh David, Mr Mike Keys and Mrs Mala Vasudev.
Internet Safety
At Fleetville Juniors, teaching children how to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly is an integral part of our curriculum.
To ensure continuous, age-appropriate learning, we deliver online safety across Years 3 to 6 using Project Evolve. This framework sits alongside our regular computing curriculum, allowing pupils to regularly recap key principles, explore real-world scenarios, and engage in crucial discussions about digital wellbeing.
We reinforce these messages throughout the year in whole-school and year-group assemblies. To supplement our classroom teaching, we also invite external experts to deliver bespoke safety sessions. A key highlight for our oldest pupils is the Year 6 Health and Safety Workshop held at the local fire station in the Spring term, which includes a dedicated interactive session on social media and online safety.
