Prehistoric Experience

We launched our Learning Journey based on the book ‘Ug’ by Raymond Briggs by enjoying an online workshop from the British Museum which introduced the Stone Age and established the chronology. We then had the exciting Prehistoric Experience. The children got to visit some people from the Stone Age inside their cave on our own field. We looked at the cave paintings which represented the Palaeolithic, the Mesolithic and the Neolithic periods of the Stone Age. We learnt about the Stone Age diet, tools and daily life. Some of us squirmed at the idea of eating bone marrow and brains! We learnt how clever the Neanderthals were to invent so many tools and to use fire. We loved seeing fire being created and a fish being gutted and cooked - well, most of us loved that part, some of us even ate some!
