Film Night 12th May?

We have a (closing) window of opportunity to run a film night on Friday 12th May. I has been suggested to do it either as fancy dress or singalong..?!?. If anyone wants to run this please shout asap as it’s only 2 weeks away. Otherwise we’ll push this to next year.

 

Quiz night- 19th May 

Great fun for the intellectual giants amongst you but better fun if you like heckling swots. 

7.30 onwards (usually finishes around 11ish depending on number of questions/food delivery/inebriation levels of quizzers)

Historically this has been £10 entry and includes as much pizza as you can stuff in your faces. Also I believe tripadvisor would describe this event as ‘lively bar scene’..

You can get a team together beforehand or go crazy and make one up on the night (much more sociable!)

Book your baby sitter now and we’ll send out a flyer/book bag letter with more details.

 

Still need a bit of help organising this, staff needed on the bar, tidyup afterwards and sourcing booze. We do have a quiz master and question setter. Please click here if you can help.

 

St Albans Half Marathon - 11th June

There is a 1.5 mile Fun run for kids 12 and under. 

If you are participating, then please mention Fleetville in the registration as the school with the most under 12 runners gets a prize  (and some cash - which obviously goes back to supporting the kids)

We will have a gazebo on the day and drinks available for our intrepid runners. 

If you’re not running please come along and cheer them on. It has been suggested that if the kids wear their Fleetville blue t-shirts on the day (not whilst running obvs) then we will know who is in our gang and this will foster a greater sense of camaraderie...

 

Camp Night - 17th June

Camping in the school grounds. Lunch, dinner, breakfast and bad back included.

Don’t have much to say about this. It’s happening. Will adivse further in due course.

 

 

Summer Fair (Fayre?) - 1st July

Lots to organise on this one, currently sorting out the stalls which we’ll try and allocate to the individual classes via the class reps.

Need help for donation days 16th and 23rd June - collecting prizes/games etc and general planning.

 

If anyone has anything they’d like to donate as prizes for the raffle this would also be much appreciated. Perhaps you have an unused holiday home in the Cote d'Azur, are a black belt in feng shui or have some other item or skill of value you can pass on as a ‘prize’…Please get in touch via the form below.

 

Also need lots of help on the day. Again PTA social is the place we’re coordinating assistance .

November PTA meeting minutes

Will be held at The Crown on Hatfield Rd from 6.30pm on Thursday 17th November.

 

All members of the PTA (that's all parents and teachers) are invited to attend.

 

(although I've warned the staff at the Crown only 7 people showed up to the EGM so they're not expecting a sell-out crowd)

 

I will try and post the agenda here asap. Any agenda items / feedback / general praise ahead of the meeting please use the form below.

 

We will post the minutes on screen in the pub for all to see and keep the forum open after the formalities are concluded in order that parents who can't get there in time can see what's been discussed, any decisions made and raise comments at their leisure over a glass of fizzy apple juice.... 

 

 

                        FIREWORKS                        

 

Thank you to all of you who came to see the fabulous Fireworks on Friday. Great night and hopefully plenty of dosh raised for the kids.

 

Thank you especially to all of you that made it happen. Jude for organising everyone, Isabel, Emma, Rachel, Rachel, Caroline, Rebecca and Helen (obvs!) all leading the throng of parents and teachers who made it all (shall I?...) go with a bang ! (yes ! I shall). 

 

Thanks to the bbq bros. David and Peter, slaving away over the hot coals, and our lovely dinner ladies for staying on and making sure the kitchen ran like clockwork. Thanks to everyone front of house manning the stalls & keeping the customers happy and the fearless fire-marshals keeping sparklers at bay. Also to everyone on Saturday morning tidying up in the rain. Low glamour - big kudos.

 

Great fun and inspiring seeing so many people come together to make it work. Singling individuals out for praise in such a large group of helpers is always dangerous so apologies to those I forgot to mention, but old age is.....you know..........erm................ 

 

Also apologies to those of you who signed up on PTA Social to find out that someone else had nicked your slot. We seemingly have lots of very 

helpful people and a system and these two things have a lovely yet brief intersect. We're working to make it better but thank you all for your offers of help - please do not be dispirited - your hour (or 1/2 hour) will come!

 

Finally a special thanks to Kate and Emma for singing happy birthday to my Mum over the tannoy! Very special !!

Next stop, PTA meeting (it's hopefully in the Crown but officially we have to call it a meeting) and kids disco....

Fleetfest was a roaring success on every level. Brilliantly organised. Great music. Fabulous food. Crack team of hand picked bar ninjas and ruthlessly efficient clean up squad. Helen – above and beyond the call of duty, yet again! Sell out at the bar. Profits for the kids.

 

An all round great night. Everybody loved it. Thank you just doesn’t cut it. Superb.

 

When it comes on top, you gotta make it happen!’ These ladies absolutely did..

Ian Baskerville

but so does Ian Baskerville. Like an absolute demon. An outstanding performance from the C90’s left the crowd literally (and very persistently) begging for more. A full repertoire of Britpop classics, Oasis, Happy Mondays, Charlatans, Stone Roses, Kula Shaker – shut your eyes and they were in the room.

 

The musical equivalent of Lionel Messi turning out for the dad’s five a side. These boys will go far!!

The real Boon

never easy being the warm up but delivered with aplomb. Great work to grab the attention of the chattering masses. Definitely worthy of a future headline slot. Fleet-folk-fest? Anyone?...

 

 

A big thank you to all the Parents (and Teachers!) for showing up and rocking out! Special mention has to go out to Del, Ray and Leonie - owning the mosh pit! ‘avin’ it large!!!!

 

Seriously talented people at Fleetville. Absolutely world class effort. When’s the next one?
