FJS update - 15th June

Good afternoon all,

Welcome to another week.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our assembly this morning, I hope we get our Rainbow opening as soon as it is safe to do so.

Despite all the ongoing uncertainty caused by this virus we are still planning for ‘normal’ school and as such we are sharing some update news today.

You may already be aware that we sadly have a number of staff leaving us at the end of this academic year.

Mrs Bridle is going to work full time for DSPL, so she will only really be on the other side of our car park in The Hub. Thankfully we will still be seeing her fairly frequently until Christmas as Mrs Bridle will come back one and a half days a week to continue her SENCo work at our school. I know many of our families may be upset at this news as Elaine has been a key part of our school for many years and does an outstanding job supporting our vulnerable children, she will be greatly missed by us all.

Mr James has taken up a job offer closer to his home and he will be looking to take his humour and passion for IT to improve his new schools offer; we all know he will improve their teaching tremendously!

Mrs Avery is also moving to a school closer to home, her new school are also getting an excellent teacher.

Mrs Cooper is moving across the road to our Infant school, she is a superb teacher and will support their Literacy development.

Mrs Lamb, my PA, has already headed out to the Spiral pastures. Her excellent support work is now being utilised by the whole academy team.

I feel sure you will join me in thanking each of them for their tremendous impact at our school over many years. We will miss them and wish them all the very best for their futures.

On a more positive note, we have successfully recruited to replace the class teachers and I am thrilled about the new staff and their skills sets, they will offer us something new. Ms Barton, Miss Edwards and Miss Mottram are all excited to be joining and are looking forward to working with us from September.

I am also delighted to let you know that Miss Andrews has been appointed to the Senior Assistant Head role, this will be to cover the leadership aspects of Mrs Bridle’s role.

Of course all of this is assuming we are open in September in some kind of 'normal' capacity.

Further details for September will be shared in due course.

Many thanks, stay safe and well.
