We have a school council made up of 12 members - one representative from each class. Pupils can offer themselves for nomination each term and the others in the class then vote to elect their representative.
We have various responsibilities in school. The School Council representative attends regular meetings to discuss comments and ideas put forward by their classmates. At each local governing body meeting, a representative from the School Council reports on what we have been doing. This is one of the ways that we can have a say in how our school is run.
We also organise fundraising events to raise money for things that we want to buy, for example, team sweatshirts or a compost bin. In addition to this, we organise events to help bring the whole school together and to raise money for charity. Each year we plan an event called 'Fleetville's got Talent', a talent show which culminates with a final involving acts from each year group. We select a charity each term that we would like to support, which is usually associated with a national fundraising day such as Children in Need, or Comic Relief.
