(10/7/11) Y6 Magical Memories
The Year 6 leavers were treated to a wonderful party by a group of parents on Saturday afternoon. Amongst many other activities each child wrote a personal message on a balloon that was later released as a symbol of 'moving on'. Thank you to everyone that was involved in organising such a fantastic afternoon.

MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS IN NORTH WATFORD, POLICE CONTINUE TO URGE PARENTS TO BE VIGILANT
POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a series of suspicious incidents in Watford.
Since April 30 th police have received a total of seven reports of a man acting suspiciously around the North Watford area.
The man, a 45 year old from Watford has been bailed until: 23 rd May 2011 with strict bail conditions.
A dedicated team of officers assigned to the investigation continue to work on this operation, if anyone has any information which they believe could help, we would urge them to get in contact with police.
Detective Inspector Clare Smith, from Watford Local Crime Unit, who is leading the investigation said: "Although a person has been arrested in connection with these incidents, we would always urge parents and children to continue to be vigilant.
"If anyone sees anything suspicious at all I would urge them to contact police immediately. We would encourage people to be careful and consider some simple personal safety advice, such as making sure you walk with friends and don't talk to or accept lifts from strangers, and always report any suspicious activity."
People are being urged to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary if they witness any suspicious behaviour or if they have any information which could assist the investigation. Please call the non-emergency number 0845 3300 222 as soon as possible.
Advice to children about personal safety:
· Stay alert
· Ensure you are with someone rather than walk alone
· Stick to busy and well-lit areas
· Don't speak to strangers
· Avoid short cuts through quiet, unlit, secluded or wooded areas and alleyways
· Make sure someone knows where you are going and tell them when you've arrived
· If you believe someone is following you, go to the nearest busy place, such as a petrol station
· Take a mobile phone with you if you have one.

Wednesday's Alban Arena concert could not take place due to a power failure. It has been possible to reorganise it for this Sunday at 4pm. The orchestra will be performing at the beginning of the concert. It would be helpful to know who is available to take part - please let the school office know. As the number in the choir will be significantly reduced, Fleetville orchestra members who are also in the choir may join Sunday's choir too if they wish.

Watford Football Club have kindly given us 200 free tickets for this Saturday's match against Leicester City (ko 3.00pm). Home Access - Strengthening links

As you will know from the pupil achievement section, two of our pupils are taking part in Little Miss Mermaid at the Alban Arena.
There are still tickets available for tomorrow night's performance at 7pm (Wednesday). Anybody wishing to go should report to the Box Office on the night and quote 'Geoff Harrison' to receive free tickets.

11.00am - We have finished our penultimate activity and are looking forward to the last session. We packed and cleared our rooms before breakfast - most if us managed to fit all our luggage into our cases (some of the sleeping bags put up a bit of a fight)!
We have had a great time and are looking forward to seeing our families and friends later.

6.00pm - We have enjoyed our last full day and will sleep well tonight after the disco. We can't believe the week has gone so quickly. It is difficult to choose a favourite activity, but kayaking and the obstacle course have been popular. The obstacle course was particularly muddy today which may have had some bearing on its popularity!
Many individual and group challenges have been met - now for the disco...

9.30am - Lovely weather again this morning. The mist is burning off to leave beautiful clear views of the hillsides. The drying rooms have been working hard for the last few days, but we have now finished most of the wet activities. Today's sessions include the obstacle course, high ropes and the blind trail. We are all looking forward to the disco this evening.

4.30pm - The afternoon's activities are nearly complete. We have had lots of success at rifle shooting, archery and fencing - discovering lots of hidden talent! Some groups will be out for an evening walk later, with others learning camp craft or taking on the challenge of the underground maze.

9.30am - The weather looks promising - some blue sky and light cloud (just right for enjoying the beautiful scenery). We all had another good night's sleep and have enjoyed another cooked breakfast - no doubt we will burn off the extra calories during the day's activities! Lots of us have already surprised ourselves with what we can achieve!

6.00pm - We have all been on the hill walk today. The resident sheep were waiting for us in the usual place - just in time for lunch! However, they stayed a safe distance away - leaving the food to its rightful owners! Canoeing and kayaking proved a little wetter for some than others! The clouds have passed over, leaving great weather for our evening activity.

10.00am - We have all had a good night's sleep. We enjoyed our first activities last night - it was very dark on the night walk after a beautiful sunset. Half of us are hill walking this morning with the other half doing a variety of activities back at base.
